a bratface
I get a lot of questions about the name “bratface,” a term that has great personal meaning to me.
“Bratface” is a term of endearment commonly bestowed on loved ones in Newfoundland who drive you a little batty now and again. It’s often used to describe children who tend to press buttons and ask for a little too much sometimes, but are so lovable their parents tend to give in.
My father gave me this nickname many years ago when we lived in Newfoundland and still uses it to this day.
My other nickname, “blue eyes,” was reserved for when I was being the well-behaved daughter of his dreams (my favourite). Living in B.C. 25 years later, the nickname has stuck and I’m still proud to be a “bratface” from Newfoundland.
